Hi, I'm Sophia.

I'm a student at Los Altos High School (Class of 2026) who loves combining data and environmental science. I enjoy building practical things, like sensor dashboards and simple web apps, and I love applying the same problem-solving mindset in protecting our environment. I'm also a lifelong sailor; I coach younger sailors and hold RYA certifications in racing, seamanship, spinnaker and performance sailing, and powerboat handling. Lately, I've been working on ocean-drifts anomaly detection and on supportive AI for early signs of emotional distress online.

About me

I like turning data into small, useful tools and stories. On campus I help lead our Machine Learning & Math Club and support Women in STEM. I also tutor peers in math, statistics, and Mandarin, and I enjoy coaching junior sailors.

Academically, I challenge myself with advanced math, physics, CS, and environmental science courses. Recently I participated in the BU RISE Data Science Practicum and UCSD COSMOS (Computers in Everyday Life).
